Liberation Programs is seeking an LPN for our Medication Assisted Recovery Program, who will be assigned to our methadone maintenance program in Stamford, CT. The staff LPN helps carry out the agency mission and duties of the medical services unit. Specifically, the staff nurse will: 1) dispense methadone and, 2) conduct medical, education and administrative duties associated with methadone services.

DUTIES

  • Dispense methadone.
  • Prepare and dispense methadone on assigned shift and according to established protocols.
  • Assess clients prior to administration of methadone medication to ensure proper dosage is administered.
  • Coordinate clients' dosage change requests with counselor and medical staff.
  • Pre-pour methadone for take-home medication.
  • Provide coverage for medical staff absences and support needed including the other methadone dispensing and residential inpatient site(s)
  • Demonstrates safe and correct use of dispensing equipment.
  • Ensure continuous delivery of services.
  • Client teaching

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current CT Licensed Practical Nursing license (LPN) .
  • Three to five years of direct patient care in hospital, primary care, psychiatric facility or home care. Experience in substance abuse/methadone dispensing preferred.
  • Knowledge of the principles of addiction treatment. Practical experience in the field of addiction treatment is preferred.
  • A work history that demonstrates leadership, accomplishment and the ability to get work accomplished on time and within predetermined specifications.
  • Computer literate. Demonstrated ability with Microsoft Outlook.
  • Familiarity with methadone dispensing software Accumedic preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills along with the interpersonal skills to work effectively at all levels of the organization and its stakeholders.
